In this program students learn how to make, install, connect, check, and perform quality control for wires and cables of electrical appliances; perform continuity tests; and correct any issues found. Graduates will have the knowledge, skills, and abilities they need to interpret work procedures, drawings, and manuals. They will know how to:
- Use computer equipment
- Apply occupational health and safety rules and handling techniques
- Carry out soft soldering, manual machining, and mechanical assembly tasks
- Build and install harnesses in an assembly
- Assemble and install system components
- Assemble printed circuit boards
- Perform maintenance on the components of an optics/photonics system
