General description

Electromechanics maintain, test, refurbish, and repair electric motors, transformers, switchgear, and other electrical devices. They are knowledgeable in a range of fields because they need to combine electrical engineering principles with mechanics. They are key members of a highly skilled team and their daily work provides the opportunity to tackle challenging projects that are revolutionizing the transportation and mobility sector and to help drive vehicle electrification forward as they strengthen and enhance their skills.

Examples of tasks and responsibilities

  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair electrical components in vehicles
  • Carry out mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic repairs
  • Use technical diagnostic tools
  • Draw up and distribute maintenance traceability documents (service sheets, time sheets, etc.) within the required timeframes
  • Conduct road tests and make any necessary adjustments
  • Perform mechanical assembly and setup of test benches according to blueprints and work instructions

Required skills

  • Firm grounding in one or more maintenance disciplines: electrical engineering, electronics, and mechanics
  • Ability to use computer tools (e.g., TestStand and LabVIEW from National Instruments)
  • Rigorous and methodical approach
  • Mathematical mind
  • Teamwork skills
