General description
Smart vehicle systems engineers/developers/designers are experts in the design of components found in smart vehicles. They design optical, electro-optical, mechanical, electronic, and opto-electrical components. They are key members of a highly qualified team and can leverage a wide range of expertise on a daily basis. Every day they have the opportunity to work on challenging projects that are revolutionizing the transportation and mobility sector and to strengthen and enhance their skills as they help drive vehicle automation forward.
Examples of tasks and responsibilities
- Develop components found in smart vehicles (industrial processes for optical, electro-optical, mechanical, electronic, opto-electrical, and other components)
- Create and maintain automated testing and evaluation tools
- Lead process improvement initiatives to improve production rates, quality, and costs
- Draft product specifications and technology enhancements in accordance with the product development process and strategic plan
- Provide documentation on the processes and instructions for product use (e.g., product sheets, specifications for standard products, etc.)
- Design and execute product test plans and provide quality reports
- Analyze data from product test plans to find weaknesses, bugs, and features that can be improved
- Interact with clients to offer support and coaching (needs analysis, design and evaluation of custom development projects)
Required skills
- Skills in optical design, signal processing, or electro-optical processes
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent ability to model and interpret data
- Precise, methodical, and detail-oriented approach
- Ability to discuss technical concepts fluently in written and spoken English
- Programming skills with Python
